The right BIM Solution
AEC3 participates as BIM expert in the research project 'eWorkBau'
The 'eWorkBau' project's aim is to establish a trade-specific way for the transition toward a model-based way of work and thus, to secure the construction trade's future.
By cooperating with experienced construction trades men a well-founded training concept is developed and put to a test relying more on new media and new training technologies.
The model-based way of work, the processes, the information management and the software are different per trade. That is why typical trades like masons, concrete workers, roofers, electricians and metal workers were analysed initially. Practically relevant projects that were different in size, complexity and information depth were then chosen as a base for establishing the training course's content. One of eWorkBau's priorities is to enable already working craftsmen to work with BIM: making of, exchanging, retrieving information from as well as cultivating a building information model.
As the BIM expert AEC3 is participating in analysing and evaluating the main marketable CAD and Tender, Award & Billing software for the crafts regarding its already existing and also its potential BIM functionalities. AEC3 is also playing a part in the process optimization by comparing traditional and model-based processes. By doing this also trade-specific BIM scenarios and examples can be generated. These can be integrated into the teaching concepts in order to clarify the new BIM method and the accompanying necessary changes to the work environment.
The tools to make and use the teaching media, to document the learning results and accomplishments in a structured way and the tools for the learners to communicate and share experiences play an important role, too. The new media are helpful in many ways especially for the training and development of craft businesses in dealing with new technologies. They can be used to illustrate highly complex issues with animations and simulations and to clarify the broader context.
